VO Passages Blog - Grateful for Freedom – My New Life as an Entrepreneur

Updated: Jun 22, 2022

Ever since starting my voiceover career, I wake up every day grateful to have my own business. I can choose how I will spend my time that day on work and personal activities. I am accountable to myself and my clients.

Of course, I must still work to earn a living. A new business requires this, especially in the beginning to build leads, develop relationships, perform better. We must record, audition spend time editing. I can plan each day differently based on my desires and obligations.

My voiceover dream is real with sacrifices like working nights or weekends when necessary. I am my own boss. I call the shots. Oh, and yes, there is no daily commute to my home studio ;).

To continue this lifestyle and build business I need to:

· support from family and friends

· encouragement and referrals from former business colleagues and acquaintances*

· repeat business from my customers

· connection with my peers, coaches and mentors

· successful auditions and new opportunities from decision-makers /casting directors

To those in my life that fall into any of these categories, thank you for supporting my enthusiasm to succeed in realizing my dream. Here's to entrepreneurship.
